Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province promotes national fitness online.
HARBIN, China, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) — In northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, people have found a way to compete without meeting. Owning a mobile phone is all that’s needed to continue the rising tide off the nationwide fitness boom.
August 8, 2020 marked the 12th National Fitness Day in China. On the day, the Internet Games in Heilongjiang Province entered the selection process.
Over the last week, sports enthusiasts from all over Heilongjiang Province uploaded their fitness videos to the short video platform. The videos are packed full of various skills and interests. Short videos on related topics has been viewed nearly 10 million times.
The online games also invited dozens of Olympic champions, world champions, and Asian champions to record short sports videos to further encourage people to participate in physical fitness.
The China-Russia Cycling League also has a new competition mode this year. On August 2, the 2020 China-Russia Cycling League (online competition) kicked off. Athletes from China, Russia, France and other countries and regions, recorded their riding through sports software which has continued over the past few days .
The organizing committee determined the contestants’ performance based on the data recorded by the software.
Such a fresh new format for competition not only surprised athletes, but also attracted many cycling enthusiasts to participate.
Online sports activities can also have richer connotations. An online hiking event held in Heilongjiang Province required participants to accumulate steps through offline sports. Asynchronous numbers can help participants reach different locations on the game map. Participants need to read past historical events on the map and answer the corresponding questions before proceeding. ■
